Here’s a little New Orleans history documentary, a brief journey in the middle of the 20th century. Really not much has changed since then. We got a few more skyscrapers on the horizon and well, dress is a little different. You don’t see anyone in sweat pants and t-shirts and the like. Those were elegant times.
A Brief New Orleans History Documentary – The Crescent City in 1940
This is a nice little film from MGM by James Fitzpatrick.
The sight of the locomotive crossing the Huey P. Long bridge is surprising since I thought they were pretty much using diesel engines by then. And there is one factual error. Canal Street was never a canal.
