Rendezvous At Riccobono’s: New Orleans Uptown Eatery

riccobonosneworleansWhen you have guests in town one of the main diversions of course is our New Orleans food. Being that my cousins were going to be here for a week provided all kinds of opportunities to eat some really great meals. What’s important is not only the food but the atmosphere.

For breakfast we went to Riccobono’s on Burdette and Panola Sts. This is a favorite uptown joint in the Carrollton area. It’s smack dab in a neighborhood right on the corner in what looks to have been an old store. There have been several restaurants here over the years. And on some mornings there is line outside, a testament to how good the food is.

They opened a few months after Katrina and because of lack of help served on paper plates. But that did not deter loyal customers.

It’s a typical New Orleans funky place with ceiling fans and funky artwork. The best things on the menu are the standard breakfast fare but gourmet items like Eggs Benedict and even better Crabcakes Benedict are all excellent. My fave is the Huevos Rancheros, good and hearty keeps me going till mid-afternoon.

With a bunch of cousins in town they have round tables big enough to seat 10 and the service is usually very good. My cousins like Riccobono’s so much that we ate there twice. They also serve lunch and their red beans and rice is especially good.
